The Oldest Gun Shop in Orlando - Rieg’s Gun Shop and Range

Age makes you wiser. You learn, you adapt, and you succeed. That is the exact case with Rieg’s Gun Shop and Range: the oldest gun shop in Orlando.

Owned by ex-football player Justin Hilton, the shop has been in the Rieg’s family since it was established in 1968 by Ed and Eileen Rieg. Not only is it family owned in name, but you get that family feel each time you walk inside.

When you walk in, you are greeted by a staff eager to help you find what you need: ammo, firearms, gear, knives, and of course... The range. If you are new to firearms, they have classes and staff to help you. If you want to try something new, they have firearms to rent. If you have your own stuff, the range is open to you.

One of the best parts about Rieg’s is that if they don’t have what you need in store, the have a massive selection of everything you can think of on their website, appropriately www.OrlandoGunShop.com.

One of my personal favorite sections in the store is a small one they have off to the side full of clearance items: random unpackaged magazines, holsters, cleaning supplies, and more. They are always 50% off retail, and sometimes even less.

If you do like hunting for bargains, Rieg’s often has a selection of used firearms for sale at discounted prices as well, but like with most gun shops these days, used guns are getting harder to find since people are hanging on to them a bit more.

If you’re low on cash, Rieg’s also buys and trades firearms as well. They are always willing to offer a fair price, but keep in mind they have to make a profit too, so don’t expect to get new MSRP on a used firearm. That’s just how it goes anywhere.

If you’re looking for a change in career, attached to the gun shop and range is Rieg’s Security. They offer both armed and unarmed (D and G license) security classes for the state of Florida. Yours truly did go through both classes to see what they were like, and yes... They were VERY well put together classes. They have one of the highest job placements in the area as well. Oh yeah... I did graduate as top shot as well for the armed class. No big deal...

The school has expert trainers who have been in the industry for years, know their stuff, and know how to teach it. At their school you can also find one of the original owners, Eileen Rieg, who gives her talks from time to time, in addition to handling the administrative work.

To keep things interesting and competitive, the gun shop and range has a series of promo days. Ladies Day on Sunday where all ladies shoot free with the purchase of a box of ammo, and Military Mondays where all veterans and first responders shoot free with the purchase of a box of ammo.

The best one is T-Shirt Tuesday. If you buy any Rieg’s apparel (hat, shirt, hoodie, and so on) and wear it on Tuesday, you shoot for free, no questions asked. Simple as that. You shoot free for life on Tuesdays. It’s honestly the best and cheapest range membership I’ve ever heard of.

Of course they always have sales as well: Black Friday, Christmas, Memorial Day, and so on. Every now and then they will decide to just open the range free. You never know. Well, you will if you follow them on social media where they announce this stuff:
