Well, after weeks of defending what little there was left to defend of SCCY in the comments of my last two YouTube videos, it appears that SCCY may be officially done for good.
Shooting Illustrated reported earlier in the month that all of SCCY’s assets from CNC machines to office furniture will be auctioned off from June 24 to June 26 by Prestige Auctions. Although the auction site says June 24 and 25.
Considering Volusia county placed a note on their door that said their assets were “under a pending levy and seizure,” this auction is probably being conducted by the county, and all money will go to the county to pay off the nearly $250,000 owed in taxes.
In a previous video I did, I mentioned the self induced struggles SCCY was having, and while it still doesn’t seem there is anything official from SCCY, all of the linked social media accounts on their site are dead except for their YouTube channel, which had its last upload 2 years ago.
While their X account seems to be dead as well, they seem to maybe have a backup one called @YgunsScc, but the last post there was in January.
While I have not tried it myself, apparently their phone numbers and email addresses go nowhere. That would make sense if their phones and computers are getting ready to be auctioned off.
So… What can we gather from this? Well, no more lifetime warranties, no more parts, no more new guns, and probably highly discounted rates on any remaining stock in various stores, but that last part is up to the FLLs.
My biggest concern is what happens to the warrantied firearms at the factory out for repair? Will they be returned to their owners somehow, or are they now property of Volusia County? I have no idea the legalities of that, but I am going to hope the county does the right thing.
If the county needs their $250,000, the audition list includes a 2021 Hermle C22U CNC 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center. Don’t be impressed, I don’t know what that is. However, a Google search revealed a new one costs $412,000, plus delivery. Even if used it’s half the value, even after auction fees, we’re already pretty close to that amount owed. The auction states there are over 90 CNC machines! Then even MORE machinery that are not CNC machines.
That should leave enough money for the county to ship any pistols back to owners, but it may simply be easier for owners to be financially compensated. Oh wait… Isn’t that a buy back? Keep in mind that this is ALL speculation on my part.
Either way, I guess this is the end for SCCY. While quality may have been questionable in some aspects, they achieved their goal: low cost, American made firearms, allowing those on a budget
a means to defend themselves. If I have any other updates as time goes on, I’ll make some updates!
